Funding Updates

As promised, we would do our best to find out the information for you, decode & digest it and then return it back to you in the most transparent & easiest way to understand.

For now, we are still ok, you are still ok. We are due to hear more mid-September to which we will again, find out, decode & digest it and then share it with you in the easiest way to understand as we know it can be hard to piece the puzzle together at the best of times when it comes to funding!

We would like to take this time to thank Kim for the wonderful work she does to nurture her most loved community & provide us all with the information in a way we can all understand, it's not easy, that is for sure so thank you Kim for your efforts, we truly appreciate it.

Music to Movement Group - Research project opportunity

Movement to Music is a group-based support that provides more tailored physical activity/exercise under the direction of a physiotherapist and neurologic music therapist. The focus is on all aspects of the person to meet their aspirations and needs while offering engagement with exercise/physical activity in a manner different to typical engagement with exercise/physical activity.

The aim of this study is to determine if and how Movement to Music contributes to an individual and their whānau living well after stroke. This will be evaluated using ‘sample sessions’ and focus groups, with participants and stakeholders, to explore the acceptability, feasibility, and sustainability of Movement to Music within the context of living well after stroke.

Always learning & developing our skills as a team!

Once a month (at least) we have time scheduled to discuss 'Clinical Topics' - each of our therapists are given the opportunity to head the meeting and choose the topic to discuss. This month (June) part of our team was away so we had just a small group learning from Kim about Neurologic Music Therapy specifically around how to consciously work with stroke clients including some roleplay from the team. Our entire team learn something new at every meeting we have. We are all incredibly grateful for these monthly sessions, our past topics for 2024 have included Cultural Responsiveness, Note Writing & Therapist Self Care. We love learning & developing as a team.
